Vaccinium myrtillus L. は、ヨーロッパ、アジアおよび北米の山岳地帯や丘陵荒野並びに森林地帯に自生する落葉性の小潅木である^(1-5)。

バクシニウム属は世界で450種ある⁽⁶⁾。
ミルトセレクトは7月～9月の成熟した時期に収穫されるVaccinium myrtillus L.の新鮮な果実からのみ得られる。
